Sap Data Warehouse Cloud

Sap Data Warehouse Cloud – SAP Data Warehouse Cloud is built on SAP HANA Cloud – a multi-cloud database as a service (DBaaS). From the connectivity, storage, data lake and robust performance of SAP HANA Cloud – SAP Data Warehouse Cloud truly leverages the power of SAP HANA Cloud.

Thanks to the advanced features of SAP HANA Cloud, SAP Data Warehouse Cloud can help any modern enterprise with its data challenges. Both products are SaaS, so there is no setup or installation, and SAP, as your SaaS provider, will take care of upgrades and maintenance. Let’s dive into the key features of SAP HANA Cloud and how SAP Data Warehouse Cloud uses them.

Sap Data Warehouse Cloud, Sap Bw Bridge: 概要とテクニカルdeep Dive

SAP HANA Cloud stores and tiers data to ensure the accessibility of high-value data. It does all this with high speed and scalability. You can quickly increase or decrease storage or compute as needed. Data can be moved from memory to native storage extent and finally to the data lake. Moving data through different layers changes its access speed – even real-time memory. This tier helps keep costs down as you can choose to store your data depending on how often and how quickly you need it. The SAP HANA Cloud data lake is queryable, offers excellent performance and storage at scale – up to petabytes.

Spaces – isolated environments for exploring data – are just one way that SAP Data Warehouse Cloud uses the robust storage and scalability of SAP HANA Cloud. Spaces provide agile control over resources, allowing anyone to join an individual Space and quickly scale their disk and in-memory storage up or down. Spaces can also leverage the SAP HANA Cloud data lake. All you need to do is assign an SAP Data Warehouse Cloud Space to your data lake. Here’s how.

SAP HANA Cloud is an open solution that can connect to a wide variety of data sources, whether SAP or non-SAP. You can manage and access large volumes of data from multiple sources through virtualization or data replication. By leveraging the power of SAP HANA Cloud, SAP Data Warehouse Cloud easily integrates with your current landscape, connecting all sources to create a central data layer. Again, SAP Data Warehouse Cloud can also replicate or virtualize data from different sources to create a source of truth.

Where SAP Data Warehouse Cloud shines is in data modeling, transformation and pre-built business content. SAP Data Warehouse Cloud offers simple drag-and-drop SQL and modeling that allows business users to model data without waiting for IT. Anyone can create complex data models that span multiple data sources. IT can consolidate data with Data Flow Builder and leverage ETL/ELT services such as pipelining or data transformation to ensure data quality. Finally, for faster turnaround time, SAP Data Warehouse Cloud offers pre-built business content for multiple lines of business that leverage the expertise of SAP and its SAP partners.

SAP HANA Cloud uses the high processing performance of SAP HANA to provide multi-model processing, hybrid transaction and real-time analytics. No matter where your data is stored – you can always access it at high speed.

SAP Data Warehouse Cloud leverages this high performance to facilitate a complete end-to-end experience – from data management and modeling to analytics. When a separate tenant is purchased, SAP Analytics Cloud is seamlessly integrated with SAP Data Warehouse Cloud. Switching between apps is done with the press of a button. That way, you can take your models from SAP Data Warehouse Cloud and easily generate stories from SAP Analytic Cloud before sharing them with colleagues. SAP Data Warehouse Cloud is the next enterprise data storage solution in the cloud from SAP. It is capable of integrating data from various types of sources in one place and allows you to perform advanced analytics using the integrated SAP Analytics Cloud powered by SAP HANA Cloud services as well as any other third-party reporting tool (not available in the evaluation).

The product is still under development and SAP has recently launched a trial to explore the product’s features. You can register for the trial at – https://saphanacloudservices.com/data-warehouse-cloud/

The SAP Datawarehouse Cloud user interface looks very uncluttered, intuitive, and extremely easy to use. The homepage is packed with options to browse the community, help documents, and guided videos. The folding panel on the left has distinctive buttons that are boldly arranged. These buttons can be used to navigate to multiple tabs. The tabs are as follows.

The Administration tab allows you to register Data Provisioning Agents. Basically, it helps to establish secure connections/tunnel between the SAP HANA database on which SAP Data Warehouse Cloud runs and various on-premises systems in your scenario.

The Security tab lets you manage users and roles. In the “Users” option, you can add/edit users and assign them roles as needed. The Roles option provides an overview of the various roles available in the system. Interestingly, you have the ‘Activities’ tab, in which the system keeps track of all the activities you perform that can be used for auditing purposes.

The Connections tab lets you add connections to data sources, including remote data sources. In the trial, you can only add SAP HANA, SAP ABAP and OData sources. The SAP HANA and SAP ABAP source systems are connected through the DP agent which is already registered.

The Space Management tab makes it easy to create and maintain Spaces. ‘Spaces’ is a concept that introduces a logical partition/area to which you can assign specific connections. Objects that are exposed to SAP Data Warehouse Cloud through connections, along with tables that are created using CSV files, would act as sources for building the model. The resulting models serve as the foundation upon which SAP Analytic Cloud stories can be built. You can assign users roles to view, edit, or delete objects in Spaces. While some of the features are under development in the trial version, the UI is exciting with the summary on the status of Spaces to understand if the Space(s) is hot, cold , active(s) or in sleep mode.

Data Builder is a place to create objects that include tables, graphical/SQL views, and ER models. Tables can be remote (created using connections) or local (created using CSV files). The graphical view development features are limited to joining, joining, filtering, renaming and creating calculated columns in the trial version. However, we can expect extensive features to be added on creating graphical views similar to HANA calculation views in the near future. Data Modeling offers a whole new user experience with an intuitive and simple design.

As part of the SAP Analytics Cloud strategy for embedded analytics, it is a turnkey solution that is fully integrated with SAP Data Warehouse Cloud. Story Builder is the ideal place to build SAP Analytics Cloud stories on top of models classified as ‘Fact’. In the trial, frontend features are limited to SAP Analytics Cloud only and we can expect connectivity to various frontend tools in the future.

Sap Analytics Cloud & Sap Data Warehouse Cloud: Key Feature Overview

The solution aims to provide flexibility and agility for business and IT users. The first impression of the tool looks very promising and has generated a lot of buzz among SAP’s customers and partners. The product should be launched in the fourth quarter of this year. In late 2019, there were several announcements related to SAP HANA Cloud services. As some of you already know, SAP HANA Cloud service is an umbrella term used to represent a collection of services to provide a comprehensive cloud data management offering. SAP HANA Cloud is the next-generation DBaaS (running on Kubernetes) that replaces the existing SAP HANA service on SAP Cloud Platform. This will also serve as the basis for other services in the SAP HANA Cloud service pack. To learn more about SAP HANA Cloud, I recommend you read this blog post “Introducing SAP HANA Cloud” where Denys van Kempen explains the new features, integration guide, HANA Academy videos, etc. In this blog, I wanted to focus on Data Warehouse Cloud (DWC), which is a scalable, people-oriented DWaaS tailored for IT and business users.

I am pleased to announce the availability of DWC on AWS Sydney (in addition to Northern Virginia and Frankfurt). In this blog, I wanted to share some of my learnings and show you how easy it is to get started with DWC. The best part is that everything from ingesting data, modeling data and creating dashboards is all included in the DWC. Yes, DWC has an integrated SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) to allow business users to quickly build dashboards. With DWC, it has become much easier for business users to perform real-time analytics
