Sap Data Warehouse Cloud Integrated With Sap Hana Data Lake
The SAP Datawarehouse Cloud user interface looks very uncluttered, intuitive, and extremely easy to use. The homepage is packed with options to browse the community, help documents, and guided videos. The folding panel on the left has distinctive buttons that are boldly arranged. These buttons can be used to navigate to multiple tabs. The tabs are as follows.
The Administration tab allows you to register Data Provisioning Agents. Basically, it helps to establish secure connections/tunnel between the SAP HANA database on which SAP Data Warehouse Cloud runs and various on-premises systems in your scenario.
The Security tab lets you manage users and roles. In the “Users” option, you can add/edit users and assign them roles as needed. The Roles option provides an overview of the various roles available in the system. Interestingly, you have the ‘Activities’ tab, in which the system keeps track of all the activities you perform that can be used for auditing purposes.
The Connections tab lets you add connections to data sources, including remote data sources. In the trial, you can only add SAP HANA, SAP ABAP and OData sources. The SAP HANA and SAP ABAP source systems are connected through the DP agent which is already registered.

The Space Management tab makes it easy to create and maintain Spaces. ‘Spaces’ is a concept that introduces a logical partition/area to which you can assign specific connections. Objects that are exposed to SAP Data Warehouse Cloud through connections, along with tables that are created using CSV files, would act as sources for building the model. The resulting models serve as the foundation upon which SAP Analytic Cloud stories can be built. You can assign users roles to view, edit, or delete objects in Spaces. While some of the features are under development in the trial version, the UI is exciting with the summary on the status of Spaces to understand if the Space(s) is hot, cold , active(s) or in sleep mode.
Data Builder is a place to create objects that include tables, graphical/SQL views, and ER models. Tables can be remote (created using connections) or local (created using CSV files). The graphical view development features are limited to joining, joining, filtering, renaming and creating calculated columns in the trial version. However, we can expect extensive features to be added on creating graphical views similar to HANA calculation views in the near future. Data Modeling offers a whole new user experience with an intuitive and simple design.
As part of the SAP Analytics Cloud strategy for embedded analytics, it is a turnkey solution that is fully integrated with SAP Data Warehouse Cloud. Story Builder is the ideal place to build SAP Analytics Cloud stories on top of models classified as ‘Fact’. In the trial, frontend features are limited to SAP Analytics Cloud only and we can expect connectivity to various frontend tools in the future.
The Commercial Catalog acts as a dictionary for all objects available in the system. Users can browse as needed from this point.

In late 2019, there were several announcements related to SAP HANA Cloud services.
